John J. Dues
Vice Chairman

Mr. Dues currently serves as Vice Chairman of Binswanger Advisory Services, Inc., a global real property advisory organization with offices and employees worldwide. Mr. Dues has responsibility for developing and overseeing the advisory services practice providing corporations, institutions and governments support in the planning, acquisition, management and redeployment of real property assets designed to implement user objectives. As sampling of global clients include Bombardier Aerospace, ConocoPhillips, Duke Energy, ExxonMobil, Nextel, Cable & Wireless, Gillette, Cummins, Deere, Kohl’s, Exelon, Teleflex, Shell, Kohler, HSN, US Department of Defense, US General Services Administration, US Department of State, Avargo Technologies, Sally Beauty, Urban Outfitters, Hellmann Worldwide Logistics, and Amgen to name a few.

Mr. Dues has broad business advisory experience in planning, evaluations and analysis, strategy development and selection, in the United States and abroad. Specific to real estate, his diversified experience includes strategic planning, location analysis, financing, construction, portfolio management and administration, property and facility management, marketing, organization, quality control, purchasing, capital planning, vendor management, and valuation. Particular to Corporate Real Estate, he has over 30 years of experience in the planning, acquisition, management and redeployment of real property assets for use in the business leading resources both internal and purchased.

Prior to joining Binswanger, Mr. Dues served as the General Director of Worldwide Real Estate for General Motors Corporation where he was responsible for overseeing the strategy, acquisition and disposition of real property assets for use in the business. GM’s Worldwide Real Estate group is responsible for the acquisition, leasing and disposal of GM properties around the world -- everything from plant facilities to dealerships. The group was also involved in business planning and risk management and ultimately acted as GM’s trusted advisor on real property matters worldwide.

Prior to joining General Motors, Mr. Dues was Worldwide Director of Corporate Real Estate Services practice for Arthur Andersen LLP where he had been involved in the full range of this practice supporting businesses, institutions and governments and was a member of the Executive Committee of the Real Estate Services Group. Prior to joining Arthur Andersen, Mr. Dues established and was President of Mead Realty Group, Inc., as well as Director of Corporate Real Estate for the parent company, The Mead Corporation.

Mr. Dues holds a BBA degree from the University of Notre Dame, attended the University of Cincinnati College of Law, and an MBA from the University of Dayton. He is a member (former Director and past President) of CoreNet, a co founder of the Corporate Real Estate Committee of the Urban Land Institute (ULI), a long time member of the National Advisory Council of the Building Owners and Managers Association International (BOMA NAC), and a former member of the Board of Directors of the International Association of Industrial and Office Parks (NAIOP). He also has from time to time served on the advisory committee for several business schools and has been a guest speaker at numerous meetings and conferences worldwide. Mr. Dues has been awarded the Distinguished Leadership Award by the Industrial Development Research Council for his significant contributions to and outstanding achievements in the geo-economic profession, and, at one point in his career, was voted the most outstanding corporate real estate group in a poll taken by Site Selection magazine . He also received the Leadership Award in Real Estate and Land Economics from the Homer Hoyt Advanced Studies Institute and has received the Master of Corporate Real Estate (MCR) designation from CoreNet.

Mr. Dues and his wife Janet are natives of Dayton, Ohio, reside in McLean, Virginia, and have three children Elizabeth, John Jr., and Christopher.
